ATW Days 115 & 116 - Oh, Canada!

We were supposed to be in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada yesterday for one day.  Then, we got a bonus day here today.  What happened?  Yesterday, we were scheduled to dock at 9:00 am.  It was obvious that we weren't going to get there on time.  We eventually docked at 12:30 pm.  Apparently, there was an electronic problem that took 2 of the 4 engines out of commission which slowed us down.  Our departure time changed a couple of times until it was announced that we would be having an overnight.  The bottom line is that we got to spend 2 great days in Halifax!

After they finally got us docked yesterday, we walked along the waterfront a short distance to get to a restaurant I had scoped out on line, Water Polo.

The food at Water Polo was great, in my opinion the best lunch we've had on shore for the entire trip.  We shared seafood croquettes and fresh halibut tacos.  Even the bread served with lobster infused olive oil and balsamic was special.

After that big lunch, we went for a nice walk along the boardwalk which is really a boardwalk! The temperature was in the mid - 70's which really made it nice.

In the evening, we had dinner with the BeMoved instructor who is just a pleasure to be with. BeMoved is a wonderful stretching and breathing class that always fires up the endorphins.

After dinner, since we were still in port, we took an evening stroll along the boardwalk.

This morning we were told that the all-aboard time would be 2:30.  We walked off the ship at about 10:00 and headed for the Halifax Public Gardens.  It is Canada Day and, as you'll see many of the locals were out and dressed in red.  We made a quick stop at the historic old cemetery on the way to the gardens.

It was a perfect day to visit the gardens.

Leaving the gardens, we decided to return to Water Polo for another lunch.  On the way we passed the Halifax Citadel and then walked along the baordwalk.

The food at Water Polo was again good, although the poor service this time put a damper on the experience.

We are now sitting on board and anxiously waiting for an update on the plan for the next few days.  Stay tuned for updates!

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Linda

And here's the late breaking news.  The issue has been fixed and we'll be leaving soon for a stop in Boston tomorrow evening.  After that, it will be 3 sea days to get to our final destination Miami, as scheduled.
