Stockholm Day One

Wednesday was day one of our overnight stay in Stockholm.  Our neighbor back home, Annica, who is from Stockholm, had recommended some different things for us to do.   For day one, we chose to visit two areas of Stockholm that we hadn't been to - Mosebacke and Fjallgatan.  We took the ship's shuttle bus to the center of Stockholm and then walked along the water and up the hill to Mosebacke.

From the Mosebacke area we were able to walk out on an elevated walkway to get good views of Stockholm.

We found a park for a rest before proceeding.

From there, we walked down to Fjallgatan street after making a visit to the Katarina Kyrka.

Leaving the church, a light rain started as we walked through the church cemetery.  We ducked into a doorway to let the rain pass.

From Fjallgatan street we made our way to Gamla Stan, the old town where we found a nice restaurant for lunch.

By the time we had finished lunch, the showers passed and the sun came out.  We walked to the Kungstradgarden.  It was a nice place to sit and enjoy the improved weather.  There was even a folk music festival just getting underway.

It was another enjoyable day in Stockholm, a city we love to visit.  We were treated to a great sunset after dinner.

Today I am going to make another deviation from the Rules of Civility.  When we returned to the ship I put on my Spotify Simon and Garfunkel playlist and the song Old Friends came up.  A lyric from the song struck me as pertinent to our time sitting in the park:

Can you imagine us years from todaySharing a park bench quietly? How terribly strange to be 70

Or, in our case, how terribly strange to be 76!

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry

  1. Me thinks that Oslo is such a beautiful city because the Nazis bombed so much of Norway's coast that newer buildings interspersed with the old have made it more interesting perhaps. Here I thought you were on your way to your next cruise but you are back in Sweden. We love your smiling faces.......

  3. It looks chilly, but perhaps balmy by local standards!
