O is for Oslo - and The Last Fish Soup!

Today, Thursday, we are in Oslo, one of our favorite cities.  The weather is great - temps in the 60's and bright sun.  Last year when we were here, I was so proud of Linda for doing over 3 miles one day, with her walker.  This year, no walker, so we went for more.

We have a great docking location - right across the bay from the spectacular Oslo Opera House.

So, our first destination was the opera house.  Last year, between the cliff diving and Linda's limits, we couldn't walk up to the roof.  Nothing was going to stop us from doing it this year.

The opera house had a very interesting art exhibition, both outside and inside.

Our next destination was Aker Brygge.  We walked along the waterfront.

At Aker Brygge, we scoped out the restaurants and settled on Louise.  We had a great table in the shade that allowed us ample opportunity to people watch.

I, of course, had the fish soup while Linda had a Skagen sandwich, the type of sandwich she fell in love with when we were in Skagen, Denmark last year.  The fish soup was good, not the best, but at least it had many mussels.  Linda's Skagen sandwich was not the best either.  We'll have to try to find a better one when we're in Copenhagen in a couple of days.

The service was quite slow, but it took about a half hour of enjoying the view before we got a bit annoyed!  The wait did give us the opportunity to eavesdrop on the conversation of the people sitting next to us.

We're not sure, but using Google Translate, I believe it went something like this:

"Astrid, I know that you've been unfaithful to me but I love you and I forgive you," Emil said.

"Emil, I love you too, but I'd really like to have an open marriage," Astrid replied.

Emil remained speechless after that!

After lunch, we headed back along the waterfront and then walked up to the area where we stayed last year.  And then it was back to the ship.

Our outing covered about 4 hours and well over 5 miles.  What a difference a year makes!

This wraps up our Norwegian ports and also represents the half way point of our 7 week cruise.  Tomorrow we'll be in Sweden.

I have to say that I have prided myself for having adhered to Rule of Civility Number 94 while eating fish soup:

If you soak bread in the sauce let it be no more than what you put in your mouth at a time and blow not your broth at table but stay till cools of it self

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry

    1. Their Eyes tell the whole story. He obviously loves her but she does not feel the same.
