Today, Friday, we are in Port Royal, Jamaica. Yesterday was a relaxing and then traumatic day at sea. After a restful morning, we attended the Executive Cellar Master's lunch. It was the same menu as the last time we did it on Allura but it was worth doing again. It was a different Head Sommelier, Vlado, who was quite good leading the wine discussion. And Chef Frederic once again prepared a fabulous sea bass dish to substitute for the beef course.
And now for the trauma. When we returned to our suite, my phone somehow fell to the hard floor which disabled the display. The result is that I am without a phone for the remainder of this trip. Is that really traumatic or is it a good thing? It feels strange to walk around without the device in my pocket but it is also quite liberating. So I think that I will enjoy it. Who knows, I might even enjoy it so much that I'll replace it with an old fashioned flip phone as our son David has done. Of course, now I am going to have to rely on Linda for photo taking and navigating around the ports of call. I think that it will work out.
On to Port Royal. We are docked across the bay from Kingston.
We really did not have great expectations for Port Royal as we were warned by an Oceania bartender that there was nothing here. Let's just say that it lived up to our expectations. We thought about going into Kingston but we didn't want to do an excursion (no offense to all of you Bob Marley fans) and there were no taxis at the port to take us there. And, did I mention that it was hot. 91 degrees hot! So, we walked into the small town of Port Royal. We saw almost as many goats as people 😜.
After walking around and checking out the sights . . .
. . . we made our way to Gloria's, a restaurant that seems to be referenced as the place to go. And it was good. What could be better than jerk shrimp and Red Stripe in Jamaica, Mon?
Tomorrow is another sea day before our 2 stops in Columbia.
Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry

May breaking your phone be as traumatic as it gets! Enjoy your "freedom" and your trip!
