Today, Tuesday, we are in Kagoshima, our last port in Japan for this cruise. We were first here in March, 2010, then again last March. One of the highlights of Kagoshima is the nearby Sakurajima volcano.
The volcano erupts hundreds of times each year, generally just spewing ash. You might be able to see a bit of ash here on the right side of the mountain top:
This morning we had a fairly nice sunrise view of the mountain while last year's view of the mountain (on the left) was mostly shielded by clouds.
So, as you may recall from a previous post, we had a grand plan for today to revisit the wonderful little sushi restaurant we went to last year to enjoy some omakase. Well, when I checked last night I found that, much to our chagrin, the restaurant is closed on Tuesday. Time for Plan B which was to visit the Kagoshima art museum and the ruins of a castle. When we took the shuttle bus into the city, the temperature was about 50 degrees F and the wind was blowing at about 20 mph. So, we wimped out and went with Plan C which was to wander around the shopping area which was mostly out of the wind. That allowed us to recreate some photos from last year.
As we wandered, we came upon a samurai show.
We really were searching for something and we finally found it!
Tomorrow is another sea day (yesterday's was uneventful other than the strong winds and a bit of motion), before we arrive in Keelung, Taipei. There, the temperature promises to be in the upper 60's before we head further south to warm weather finally!
Just a note before I close. It has come to my attention that some readers of my blog have been plagiarizing the content - that means you Tom! My attorney will be in touch😁.
Peace and blessing,
Linda and Larry
Celebrating that I got mentioned in the blog - even if I had to plagiarize some content to get recognition! We can settle out of court during the cruise.
