Some More Sitka Sunshine

Monday, the word was that conditions would be good for northern lights.  We were a bit late getting out to see them (1:30 am) but we caught a little.

Tuesday in Sitka we took a Sea Otter and Wildlife Quest excursion.  The excursion was a 3 hour boat ride in the Sitka Sound and around islands.  As the title suggests, we saw lots of wildlife.  The first sighting on the ride was a salmon hatchery.

Then we saw many Humpback Whales.

We saw sea lions lounging on a buoy.

Next up were sea otters.  There were many hanging around the rocks but we could not get close enough for good pictures.  You'll have to trust me that there are sea otters there.

And lastly, we cruised past an island where many eagles reside and we saw a couple including one sitting in a tree above a nest.

Today, Wednesday, we were supposed to sail in the Holkham Bay Glacier Fjords.  However, the foggy, rainy weather did not allow for safe passage into Tracy Arm.

So, it became a day at sea.  We were consoled by another bingo win, a mere $70+.

Tomorrow, we visit Klawock, Alaska, a new port for us.

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
