Akureyri

Wednesday we were in Akureyri.  The sail in was, as usual, beautiful.  But I kind of have to admit that there is a certain sameness to the sights, not that we're getting tired of it.  The first picture was the sail away from Isafjordur the previous night, while the next was the sail into Akureyri.

There were limited views of waterfalls, just really one.

Once docked in Akureyri, we decided to go walk earlier than we have been since the weather was a bit warmer and the wind light.  We walked most of the way into town with a number of stops to sit on a bench and enjoy the morning.

After lunch, I went for my usual 2 hour walk.  I started by walking through town, hitting the square and the pedestrian street.

Next I walked up the Rainbow Walkway and on to the church.

After that, it was on to the small but lovely botanical garden.

From there, I worked my way down to the waterfront but not before a stop for some Icelandic ice cream.

It was then a walk along the waterfront back to the ship.

There was a bench along the walkway with a good quote which I translated using Google Translate.  What a useful app that is!

And, once again, a fabulous sail away.

One great advantage of the Vista suite is the great vistas we get.  The one disadvantage is all of the noise from the bow thrusters when we are docking!

Today, Thursday, we are in Seydisfjordur.  It's an interesting port as I'll explain in my next post.  Just know that it has a great waterfall!

One thing Linda and I have discussed and agreed upon, is that we would really like to do this cruise again when she is fully healed so she can join me on the long walks.  It will probably a couple of years before we can fit in our schedule!

Peace and blessings,

Linda and Larry
