Wednesday was our final Canadian port on this cruise. We tendered into the city . . .
. . . and headed for the Rails to Trails hike that I had found online. We walked through yet another lovely Nova Scotian town to get to the trail. Along the way, we passed the Christ Church and its old cemetary.
When we reached the trail, we had a choice - turn left or right. We opted for right since it looked like it would take us to a more remote section.
Unfortunately, after a short distance the trail became quite overgrown, so we turned around and went the other way. A woman who was greeting the cruise passengers told us to watch out for deer and we did see a couple of them as we made our way on the trail. We also came across a very beautiful and friendly cat.
The walk along the trail was quite nice. The only disappointment was the lack of fall colors - just a splash here and there. Either we were too early or too late?
After completing the trail at the Roseway River, we walked back to the town.
What would a visit to Shelburne be without a local lunch stop? We made it at The Ship's Galley Pub and Eatery where we had delicious chowder (seafood for me, lobster corn chowder for Linda) and really good fish and chips. Sorry Chowder Barge in LA and Ember on Vista but you lose out! And it was somehow easy to resist the Taco Poutine!
So that completed our day in Shelburne. As we are sailing away to Bar Harbor, Maine, the big question is our itinerary as Tropical Storm Philippe seems to be heading right to our future route in a couple of days. I think that something is going to change. Stay tuned!
Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
We're expecting a rainy Saturday in NYC area, but weather improves after that for your Oct. 9 arrival. Unless Philippe causes an early arrival, as Lee did for my Vista cruise in September. Don't worry if the Captain says Newark. Just his way of pronouncing New York. Caused quite a stir.
ReplyDeleteI'll make you a killer taco poutine when you get back!
