Barcelona Mountain Climb

For our second day in Barcelona we decided to avoid the central city (there were 2 large cruise ships in port in addition to the usual tourists).  We set off to walk up Montjuic.  We climbed up to the site of the diving competition from the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Our original plan was to go to the Miro museum but the day was so nice that we decided to explore the gardens instead.  We walked through the water garden . . .

. . . and then made our way to the Botanical Gardens.  The Botanical Gardens are themed to display plants from places around the world that have a climate similar to Barcelona - Australia, Xile, California, and the Canary Islands.  It made for a very interesting walk through the gardens and we spent well over an hour there.

After our garden visit we made our way back down to the Gothic Quarter with a quick stop for a small lunch along the way.  We couldn't help but notice the large amount of graffiti around Barcelona.  Some of it is really good and may be sanctioned, some is just graffiti.

As we walked around the Gothic Quarter, we happened upon our favorite gelato chain, Amorino.  We've had their gelato at countless places around the world.  After indulging in the gelato, we had to go into the church to seek forgiveness!

All in all, it has been another wonderful visit to Barcelona.  We never run out of things to do and we will be happy to return.

We ended our stay with a tapas dinner that is the subject of a separate post.

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
