Sunday in Hammerfest - cloudy, misty, and 48 deg. F. Not the best of days. We slept late after the Aurora and woke to some light rain. The forecast indicated that the rain would stop at about 11:00 am, so we took our time and left the ship at that time. There was still a light mist falling as we walked into Hammerfest. We had thought about walking up to Salen Hill but the tourist people on the pier kind of discouraged us due to the wet conditions. So we decided to walk along the waterfront and through town before walking out on a trail along the bay. We followed the polar bear tracks to get to town!
After hitting the end of the trail, we returned to town to see some other sights. We wound up at the trail head for Salen Hill and decided that the conditions did not look bad. We headed up the steep zigzag path. Nice views from the top.

As we walked back down, we were rewarded with a sighting of reindeer.
Meanwhile it's 100 degrees in Long Beach, but still low 80s near the shore. I know of two Long Beach residents who are experiencing 48 degrees.
ReplyDeleteYep, 104 degrees in our neighborhood. Now, about that bubble waffle...
