Special Blog Aurora Edition!
Yesterday, Saturday, was a largely uneventful day at sea. We spent part of the day monitoring the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights that night. The Aurora app indicated that we had a pretty good chance of seeing them. However, as the day progressed the sky became cloudier and our hopes were dashed a bit. At about 10:30 pm, after the show, I went up to the top deck to check things out. The sky was still mostly cloudy and there was some daylight remaining in the west. So, we went to bed and set an alarm for 1:00 am. Then, at about 11:45 pm, before getting serious about sleeping, I looked out of our window and saw Venus shining brightly. I threw on some clothes and headed back up and there they were - the Northern Lights. I dashed down, got Linda and my jacket, and up we went. Standing on the top deck we got good views. Now, these were not the most spectacular Northern Lights, I'm sure. But, at least we saw them and we can check that off of our list! Here they are:
After about 15 minutes of viewing they seemed to be fading and we seemed to get colder, so we headed back to our suite to make a baby - hey, isn't that what you're supposed to do under the Aurora Borealis?!?
We were blessed last night and here's hoping peace and blessings to you!
