Quarantine Day 4 - Hump Day!

This morning we are docked in Messina, Sicily.  First, the report from yesterday.  It was sort of a roller coaster ride.  We were anchored off Sorrento and the weather was decent so we spent a good part of the day monitoring the tender operation.  As you can see, it brought smiles to our faces.

Evening came and we prepared for the scenic sail away.  It was the night of the Captain's Welcome Party and, since we could not attend, we had our butler, Francis, bring our complimentary cocktails to us.  It made the sail away that much more enjoyable.  (As a side note, Francis has been great in bringing us our meals and drinks whenever we want.  He can't come into our room, so it's all left outside the door on a tray for us.  And our room is cleaned once a day by a special crew since the stewardess is also not allowed in.)

Then things got even better with the sun setting as we passed the Isle of Capri.  We were lucky to be on the starboard, or right, or correct side of the ship to see it.  If we weren't in quarantine we might have been dining and missed it completely.  It made for the peak of the day's roller coaster ride.

After a nice dinner of lobster ravioli, the bad news came.  The Medical Center called and told us that we would be in quarantine until April 21st and that our release would be contingent on passing Covid tests on the 20th and 21st.  We were hoping for 5 days but it's 7 days which makes this hump day.  As my grandmother would have said, "Oy Vey!".

And then there was another up side on the roller coaster.  They announced that we would be passing Stromboli, the site of an active volcano at 4:00 am.  Since we had no where to go and no reason to get up early, we rose at 4 to see it and were treated to 3 good flares from the peak.

This morning we're docked so no tenders to monitor, just the comings and goings of various ferries and other vessels.

The forecast is for rain later so we'll enjoy our time on the veranda while we can.  And we saw another reason to be thankful - we're happy that we're not on this ship:

And now for today's Rule of Civility to remember if you want to come visit us in our suite: Rule #38. In visiting the sick, do not presently play the physician if you do not know therein.

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
