ATW Day102 - Cork, Ireland

Today we were docked in Cobh, Ireland and took a morning train to Cork.  The train station was virtually steps away from the port.

The train ride was 25 minutes into Cork.

I guess we were in Cork in 2018 but I don't remember any of it so it was all new to me!  (Linda has photos to prove it).  We walked from the train towards the English Market.

After the English Market we made our way up to St. Anne's Church.

After a bit of discussion, we decided to walk the 132 steps to the top of the tower, taking the opportunity to ring the bells along the way.

It was an interesting climb that required ducking under a bell to let people on their way down to pass, but the views from the top made it worth it.

After visiting the church, it was definitely time to make our way back down for a beer and some fish and chips.

We landed at The Woodford where the food and beer were quite good,

The artwork on the pub's window showing a swordfish demonstrated how talented the birds in Cork are!

After lunch, we walked back to the train station.  Upon returning to Cobh, we did a quick walk into that colorful town.

As we sail away, I'm thankful for another terrific, though tiring day of exploration.

Tomorrow we make a return visit to Belfast where the weather is not supposed to be as nice as today was.  I'm hoping for an easier day!  The almost 80,000 steps and 35 miles of walking in the last five consecutive port days have taken a toll on this old guy.

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
