Wrapping Up The Road Trip

We're now in Holly Springs, Georgia for Thanksgiving with our son Matt and family.  So let me wrap up  the road trip.  On our final day in Savannah, we drove to lunch at a restaurant that Matt recommended, Despositos.  It was a good, crabby lunch sitting out in the fine weather.

We then continued on to Skidaway State Park where we walked 2 of the trails.  We did get a few wildlife sightings including a fiddler crab, an egret, and a raccoon but, alas, no alligators in the ponds.

On Monday, we drove up to Charleston, making a stop on Hilton Head Island just to see it.

We went to Charleston to visit our old friends Jimmy and Barbara Bernstein who live on the Isle of Palms.  Jimmy and I worked together for a couple of years at GE in Cincinnati in the mid 70's where we became good friends.  We remained friends after Jimmy left engineering to join his family's restaurant business.  Jimmy became the founder of the Howl At The Moon piano bar franchise.  It had been about 46 years since we had seen each other.  It was great to catch up with them and really nice to meet their family who were there for the Thanksgiving holiday.  A definite highlight of our road trip.

We drove up to Holly Springs on Tuesday, stopping at Georgia Tech to pick up our grandkid Ben.
Now we're looking forward to a wonderful Thanksgiving and time with our family here before we fly back to Miami for our cruise back home.

Here's to a peaceful and blessed Thanksgiving for all!
