The Adventure Continues in Aventura

But first , let's talk about the christening of Allura on Thursday.   We adhered to the suggested dress code.

The festivities started with a gala dinner.

The christening ceremony was held in the port terminal.  It was a nice ceremony, much lower keyed than the ceremony for Vista 2 years ago.

A nice touch was that they recognized the crew and had some come on stage.

The unique aspect of the christening was that, rather than having a typical godmother, there were 6 young chefs who are the godparents of the ship.  The chefs had been recognized by Food & Wine magazine as New Young Chefs.

It really was a lovely event,

Friday was a day at sea that started with a great brunch.

The day was capped off by a reception for the 30 high level Oceania cruisers who were invited on the christening cruise and a beautiful sunset.

Saturday, before our arrival in Nassua, Bahamas, there was a town hall meeting with Oceania execs who provided insights into the direction that Oceania is taking as it positions itself as more of a luxury line and some peeks at the next new ship, Sonata, coming out in 2 years.

In the afternoon, we took a very quick walk in Nassau dodging the masses from the mega-ships in port and being underwhelmed by all of the souvenir shops selling the same crap.

In the evening, we were invited to crash a reception for the young chefs where we got to chat with a few of them.  That included one who has a restaurant in Phoenix which we plan to go to when we're there at the end of January.

Today, Sunday, we disembarked Allura and went up to Aventura to spend a couple of days with Cousin Jerry.  The day included a walk along Hollywood Beach.

Tuesday, the road trip will begin.  Until then,

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
