Wednesday was our last full day in Ljubljana. It was an overcast morning with the threat of a little rain.
We went out for breakfast for the first time. It was a good breakfast, but the funny thing was the swarm of sparrows that frequented the restaurant. We sat outside at first but decided to go in after watching this guy. I would say that the birds love the tourists as much as the shop owners.
After breakfast, we decided to do a little more exploring and hit a couple of more spots recommended by The Crazy Tourist. First up was Congress Square.
Our next objective was a lunch stop at an Asian Fusion restaurant near Tivoli Park that we had spotted yesterday. Fortunately (as I'll explain later) it was closed, probably because they only have outside seating. So we carried on to our next objective, Metelkove Mesto, an area where the buildings are covered in graffiti and murals. Okay, I'm not sure of the distinction between the two, but it was certainly interesting and fun to walk around there.
We then started walking back to the old town area. One observation we have made is that there are many smokers in Ljubljana. On our walk, we stopped for a rest at a bench outside of a health center. I found it ironic that 3 workers came out from the center on a smoke break.
Now to the fortunate part of that restaurant being closed. When we reached the old town, we decided to have lunch at the Most Restaurant. You may remember that we had previously enjoyed the Most Wine Bar which is next door. We had a fabulous lunch, probably the best meal of the many good meals we have had in Ljubljana. My mushroom soup and Linda's sea bass were delicious. And I don't think I can adequately describe how good my pasta with prawns in a black truffle sauce with white truffle shavings was.
It was a big, late lunch and with a lingering threat of rain, we decided to just finish up some of what we had in the apartment for a light dinner. Linda made made quite an appealing spread!
After dinner we went for one last Ljubljana ice cream. Ice cream is very popular and abundant here.
With the food and wine being so good, it was easy to follow Rule of Civility Number 98:
Drink not nor talk with your mouth full; neither gaze about you while you are drinking.
Peace, blessings, and good food and wine,
Linda and Larry
