On Board and Our Last Day in Tokyo

Yesterday, Friday, we embarked on Riviera.  It was great to be back and to see so many of our friends from the staff, including a couple of people who had kept it a secret from us that they would be on board.  Surprise!  Please allow me to give you a rundown of the senior officers and staff on the hotel side,  each of whom we have sailed with before.

General Manager - Emma
Food and Beverage Manager  - Gorica
Restaurant Manager - Victoriya
Executive Concierge - Marlenia
Senior Executive Chef - Heiko
Cruise Director - Sammie
Assistant Cruise Director - Leia
Destinations Manager - Alexandra
Chief Housekeeper - Beata

Notice anything interesting?   Yep, everyone, except for the chef, are females.  We think this is fantastic.

So Friday was simply a day for settling in.

Today, Saturday, we walked around the port area, Odaiba, which is an artificial island in Tokyo Bay.  One of our goals was to hit the mall to pick up a couple of things that we forgot to bring.  That part of the mission was unsuccessful.  We worked our way down to the waterfront past the very interesting Fuji Television building.

The day was sunny with no wind.

Eventually, we made our way to the Statue of Liberty.  No, we didn't teleport to New York although the train stop in the area was Tokyo Teleport!

We then headed over towards the shopping area with a break to enjoy the weather and to people watch.

After the unsuccessful shopping we left the mall, passing the giant robot.

It was then a walk in the park back to the ship.

Tomorrow, we'll be back in Shimizu near Mount Fuji which we visited twice last year.  Here's hoping for clear views of the mountain.

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
