Fish Soup Round 3

Today will be a thankfully shorter post.  Yesterday, after a cloudy and rainy morning in Nordfjordeid, the afternoon cleared up a bit and we took a tender into the town.

We even got a bit of sun as we took a nice walk around the very quiet town.  We'll attribute the quietness to it being a Sunday afternoon.  Linda was able to walk for about an hour without stopping.  Yay!  Sadly, there was no opportunity for fish soup.

It clearly wasn't the most exciting of ports.  However, in the evening we were treated to a scenic cruise through the long fjord as we dined in the rear of Tuscan Steak.

It was a lovely evening until a large, noisy group of 20 people showed up and ruined the atmosphere.  We decided to leave before we had dessert.  Oh well.

Today, Monday we are in Stavanger, Norway.  We are docked across from a mega ship - the P&O Iona with its 6000+ guests.  Oy, what a crowd in the city.

After breakfast, I took a walk to scope out where we should walk later (and, of course, to scope out restaurants for fish soup).  One of the attractions is the old town but it would be too difficult for Linda to navigate the cobbled, hilly streets or stairs to get up there.

It was close to lunch time when Linda and I went out for a walk.  We could tell it was close to lunch time since the swans were walking into town to have some churros and gyros!

We worked our way up through the outdoor market to Breiavanet Lake and then walked around it.

There were many birds in and around the lake including European Herring Gulls and more swans.  Those swans apparently preferred to get their lunch fresh from the lake.  There was also a swan that either had a broken leg or some sort of mutation with a leg growing out of its back.

After making our way around the lake it was, thankfully, time for lunch.  We went to Fisketorget where we shared a Fish Soup and a Spicy Salmon Salad.  Both were delicious - I put it right up there, just a small notch below fish soup in Alesund.  I also had a very good double hopped IPA.  It was another $80 lunch but worth every Krone!

We had just a small sprinkle of rain while we were out.  After we got back to the ship, there was some heavier rain.  We were blessed by the weather goddess again!

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
