Let's Talk Turkiye Again

Friday we were docked in Kusadasi, Turkiye.  Linda booked an excursion that took this ancient guy to three ancient cities.

Backing up a bit, we were greeted by a nice sunrise as we sailed into Kusadasi.

The first stop on the excursion was the Greek Temple of Apollo in Didyma built some 2500 years ago.  It was a huge temple with just a few tall columns remaining.  It was a fascinating stop with many carvings and impressive marble blocks precisely crafted to fit together perfectly.

After a stop for a nice lunch at a Turkish restaurant, the next stop was Miletus where we visited the theater which was built in the second century BCE.  The theater held about 15,000 people.

This place was also apparently the site of the first McDonald's in Greece.

The final stop was in Priene where visited the Temple of Athena where I was forced to pay tribute to my queen.

The site was a bit of a climb up from the parking area but it was well worth the effort.

It was a very good excursion.  Our guide was very knowledgeable, though a bit dry.

In the evening we had a lovely sail away.

Today, Saturday, we were supposed to be in Mykonos, Greece.  However, high winds prevented us from getting in.  So, we will have a day at sea which was actually welcome as it will give us an opportunity to rest up.

Peace and blessings,

Linda and Larry
