Sunday we were in Sorrento. Initially, we had booked an excursion to go hiking. However, the weather forecast called for rain and did we really want to get up in time to make an 8:15am excursion? So we cancelled the tour and decided to just wander around Sorrento. We'd been there before and enjoyed it. The day started with a tender ride and a climb up from the port to the city.
We started at the big piazza at the top of the stairs and started our walk.
Of course, we found a church to visit.
And, of course, as we wandered on, we found a spot for coffee.
Soon, it became time to find a spot for lunch. We thought about this place since the dog was so interested in eating there, but we decided to continue on.
A Google search led us to a little family run restaurant, Storico8, where we had a fantastic margherita pizza.
It started raining lightly as we ate and we headed back to the tender port to return to the ship.
I did want to share with you some of the artwork that Linda and I have created on this cruise. Can you guess the medium we used?
The evening highlight was dinner with Frank Del Rio. There were 2 other couples joining us and we ate in a private dining area that they have added to the Italian restaurant, Toscana. Unfortunately, Frank's wife, Marcia, was not feeling well and didn't join us. It was just a lovely dinner. It was so interesting talking to him about Oceania, Norwegian and the cruise industry. He was very forthcoming and a wealth of information. And, he made sure to take the time for each of us to tell him about ourselves. We made sure to tell him about our retirement stories and to give him advice as he embarks on his retirement! Who knew that the CEO of such a large company could be so nice?
Today we are in Messina, Sicily and we're waiting for the rain to let up before we venture out. The weather has certainly not been the best but we're making the best of it.
Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
Looks as if you had a pretty good hike anyway. And 'dinner with Frank' sounds amazing! Probably for him too😉. Enjoy, enjoy as you near the finish of this latest adventure. Been fun touring and eating with you.
