Thursday was a day to enjoy the slow life in Lagos. We started off with some grooming to get ready for the big cruises on Vista. Can you tell we got haircuts?
We walked out to the lighthouse and checked out a couple of beaches (Praia de Batata and Praia de Estudantes).
By then it was time for lunch and here is where the slow life really took hold. We went to the restaurant 2 Irmaos and settled in. When we go to a specialty restaurant on Oceania we always request slow service. Otherwise, the service feels rushed and the food comes too fast. We have found that in the Algarve you thankfully don't have to ask for slow service. It's just the way it is. Our lunch consisted of the cover (bread, olives, butter, carrots and bacalhau), a large pitcher of sangria, and the signature dish of cataplana. Cataplana refers to the pot it is cooked in and the dish. We had the fish cataplana which had a variety of fish, razor clams, and vegetables in a wonderful tomato sauce.
After finishing the cataplana and the sangria, we somehow found room for desert,
So, you ask, how slow was lunch? The answer is, we spent almost 3 hours savoring the experience!
The rest of the day consisted of a lot of relaxation, a very light snack for dinner, and a good evening walk. What a life!
Today, Friday, is our last day in Lagos before we head to Faro. It might consist of a nice, slow walk. Stay tuned.
Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
