We made it! After more than 30 years, we returned to Milford Sound.
Before we got there, the sailing was interesting. We had a strong wind from starboard which had the ship listing for a couple of hours. Here is the view from Horizons where we had planted ourselves for tea time and happy hour. Look at the white railing to see how much we were listing.
But as we got closer, the wind calmed and the entrance to Milford Sound was smooth. We were even greeted by dolphins.
It was about 7:00 pm when we entered the sound which made for beautiful light on one side. I took way too many photos and I'll share some here to give you an idea of just how amazing it is.
When we reached the end of the sound, we saw a familiar sight - the hotel where we were forced to spend the night 30 years ago. It was one of our favorite travel memories which, if we haven't yet, we can share with you some time.
As we sailed back out, we grabbed a few shots of Mitre Peak (and that's another story).
We dined with views of Mitre Peak and Linda finally got to see the green flash as the sun set!
It was a fabulous return to Milford Sound. As the truism says: WORDS TEND TO BE INADEQUATE
Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
