Kangaroo Island or Bust . . . BUST!

 Today we were to be visiting Kangaroo Island.  We had been there on our previous cruise around Australia so we did not have big plans - only to do some hiking.  We were supposed to be anchored at 7:00am.  When I went up to the fitness track just before 7:00, ..it was obvious that we were not near enough to land to begin tendering.  Then I spotted the tug boat tied alongside.

We had heard about other cruise ships having issues with growth on their hulls that the Australian authorities had denied entry into ports.  A Viking ship was apparently at sea for many days because they were not allowed to dock anywhere and eventually sent the passengers home.  So, I suspected that our situation had something to do with that.  Finally, the announcement came.  During inspection in Adelaide, it was determined that the ships hull would need to be cleaned.  Tomorrow's port has also been canceled while the divers scrub the ship!

Missing Kangaroo Island - not a big deal.  Who needs to see another kangaroo in a bikini?

The next port, Portland, we have not been to, so it is a bit disappointing.  Oh well, the weather is lovely and life on a cruise ship is a wonderful thing.
