Here we are on board Marina having set sail from Stockholm. It seemed that about 40 people boarded here in addition to another about 40 staying on from the previous cruise so under 100 passengers for the first night sailing. We were required to take an Antigen test prior to boarding - 15 minutes of tense waiting for our negative result to arrive. It was indeed relief to get the slip of paper showing 'negative' which allowed us to board!
Our first stop was up to Baristas for coffee. We were very pleased to see 2 of our favorite servers there preparing coffee. In general, it is nice to see that so many of the crew that we know (and who know us) have returned. We were unsure if that would be the case after the year and a half shut down due to Covid. We also ran into Leslie Jon, the most senior Oceania Cruise Director up there. It has been too long since we've sailed with Leslie.
It was then time to check out our Oceania Suite. We had great expectations for it based on what we saw on line, but I have to say that it blew us away.
When we made the move from Concierge to Penthouse stateroom, we immediately said we could never go back. And now I fear we will once again say that we cannot go back again. Sorry kids, there goes the inheritance!Soon we sailed for Copenhagen. Sailing out through the archipelago was again beautiful and the weather was better than 2 days ago.
After an, of course, delicious dinner (complete with a great sunset that reminded us how blessed we are!)and finally a good night's sleep, we awoke to a beautiful morning and smooth seas as we completed the sail into Copenhagen. When we were docked we took the shuttle bus into the city and spent a few hours walking around. The pedestrian streets were crowded and there seemed to be many high school age kids. School must have let out for the day.
We came to the church and its tower and immediately remembered that we had visited there with our daughter and granddaughter a mere 16 years ago. Little Emma was only 5 years old and I have fond memories of walking up the spiral ramp with her to the top. Today, with the perfect weather the views were great.
Then it was time to walk over to the Nyhaven area for drinks people watching.
On the shuttle ride back, the driver made a stop at the world's most overrated iconic city symbol - yes, the Little Mermaid!
We finished the day with another wonderful French dinner.
Today, Friday, as I finish this post, we have a relaxing day at sea on our way to Helsinki. It's smooth sailing and wonderful weather. And we have wine tasting and massages this afternoon. It's a tough life but someone has to live it - and I'm glad that it is us!
Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
Hi L&L, Everything, and both of you, look wonderful! So happy you're safely on your way. Fifty years since my only visit to Copenhagen, and you've whetted my appetite for a planned trip in June '22. Only the Little Mermaid and you looked familiar.
ReplyDeleteGlad Leslie is your Cruise Director. Happy Sailing...Maddy
Sounds wonderful. Please say hello to Leslie. Glad to hear many of the staff are back. They are the best part of sailing on Oceania. So happy for you😍😍
ReplyDeleteI get it... sometimes the penthouse isn't good enough. Surely the massages are in your suite, or do you have to upgrade to get that??
ReplyDeleteLove the suite! Room for us! Your pictures are wonderful... and it seems to be warm in Copenhagen? What a wonderful city.
