We opted for another ship's excursion - a tour of the Upper Town and Kadriog Palace. On the walk around the Upper Town, we saw narrow streets, government buildings, and churches. We were lucky to be at the Church while Sunday services were going on. We were able to step inside and get some Orthodox religion! We also went to an overlook for a view of the city and of Marina.
After the Upper Town, we were taken to Kadriog Palace which was built by Peter for Katherine. The palace was nice but the best part for me was the art exhibit there. One disappointment on the cruise was the cancellation of the stop in Amsterdam. Being a lover of old Dutch art, I was really looking forward to going to the Rijksmuseum. The exhibit at the palace was Dutch art. It wasn't the Rijksmuseum but at least it was something.
Later in the afternoon we took a walk through the Old Town of Tallinn.
Today, Monday, we are in Latvia. We opted for another ship's excursion, a tour to the old Sigulda Castle, the Gutmana Cave, and the Turaida Castle. I'll try to send a new post tomorrow but it is a sea day and the internet could be spotty.
Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry

ReplyDeleteTallinn is one of our favorites. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI am fascinated by the map of the Baltic Sea. It connects so many countries. You appear to be traveling on the top of the world.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe palace gardens are beautiful — love all of the colors. Seeing old town Tallin reminds me of when I was there many years ago.
