PV&CSL

PV&CSL - Puerto Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas!

Saturday we were in Puerto Vallarta.  Our original plan was to take the Hop On Hop Off bus.  But, walking through the port area, a tour guide offered us what sounded like a good tour at a good price.   So, we took his offer.  We started with a ride to downtown Puerto Vallarta (PV).  The streets in PV are narrow, hilly and cobble-stoned.  He took us up to the area where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton had a house built after filming The Night of the Iguana here.  It seems to be a big deal for the folks (or at least the tour guides) in PV.

While up in that area, I climbed a tower for the views.

Next he took us to the Cathedral in the town center.

We then had the opportunity to walk a bit along the Malecon.

We then were driven through the old town where we stopped a a silver shop.  Linda relaxed in the shop while I walked down to the beach.

Next up was a ride to a viewpoint.

Lastly, was a drive through an ecological area.

By the time we returned to the port, it was about a 3 hour tour.  It turned out to be even better than we anticipated since he was able to drive to places that the tour buses couldn't go and it was much more comfortable riding in his air conditioned vehicle than on top of a HOHO bus.  We ended up paying him more than our negotiated price.

It was a nice sail out of PV.

Sunday we were in Cabo San Lucas.  When we got back to our cabin after breakfast, we were treated to great views of the ionic rock formations of Cabo.

This was probably the fourth time that we'd been there.  We booked an Oceania excursion that would take us to a city outside of Cabo - The Art District of San Jose del Cabo.  We had considered canceling the excursion since it seemed to involve some more walking than Linda would be comfortable with, but we ultimately decided to do it and we're glad we did.  After the half hour bus ride, we visited 3 different galleries with different types of art - all very good.

After the galleries, we visited the San Jose del Cabo Mission Church.

We were then given about an hour of free time so, rather than shopping, Linda and I went to the recommended restaurant for a mango margarita, shrimp tacos, and guacamole.  Excellent!  We wound up eating with and having a nice conversation with our guide.  We had considered going back to one of the galleries to buy something but, by the time we were through with lunch, it was time to meet up and go to the bus.  Probably a good thing.  So, the tour was great.  It didn't involve a lot of walking since everything was close by, our guide was excellent, and he took it nice and slow as we walked around.

Tomorrow is a day at sea as the cruise is winding down.  It will also mark 2 weeks until Linda's hip replacement surgery, but who's counting!  We'll be in Ensenada on Tuesday and then home on Wednesday.

Peace and blessings,
Linda and Larry
